Salary: £40k-£50k per annum

Galbraith has a focused forestry team providing advice across some 30,000 hectares of privately owned woodland and forestry from farm and estate woodlands to large productive forests and property with a focus on biodiversity and carbon.

Galbraith is a leading firm of Chartered Surveyors operating across Scotland and northern England in the Rural, Commercial and Residential Sectors providing management, consultancy, valuation and agency advice.  Within the Rural Sector we provide advice on forestry, farm, land and estate interests totalling over 1.5 million hectares.

Your New Role

We deliver woodland creation schemes of all types up and down the country, ranging from small amenity woods to upland plantations and landscape scale native woodland schemes.  We work closely with the rural team including natural capital, agency and valuation colleagues on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Forest Manager to join our team in Inverness. The purpose of the role will be to lead the team to assist with our growing portfolio of clients across north and west Scotland with opportunities to take responsibility and ownership for a varied client workload.

In this role, you will be included in many aspects of forestry including organising and supervising forestry and woodland contract operations using independent contractors, harvesting operations, woodland creation, restocking and woodland maintenance operations. You will also be responsible for securing necessary consents and appropriate grants, and woodland assessment, mapping preparation of reports and long-term plans.

About You

You will have a sound knowledge base around woodland and forestry in Scotland and ideally hold professional ICF membership.  A good working knowledge of FGS and UK Forestry Standard is essential. You must have strong IT skills, specifically in GIS applications in forestry. Excellent communication with colleagues, clients, contractors and stakeholders is essential. Importantly, you will be able to work accurately and efficiently with a focus on delivery and a pro-active approach to solving problems. An ability to demonstrate being a team player and leader will be key.

A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
