Galbraith, which operates across Scotland and the North of England, reported a year-on-year increase in sales of 14 per cent for 2024 and an increase in average pricing of 11 per cent, for the firm as a whole.
Sales in the Highland region were particularly good, with an increasing number of sales to overseas buyers this year and more enquiries from overseas, including one from the Falkland Islands.
Phiddy Robertson, who leads the Galbraith agency team in the Highlands, commented: “The property market has been positive during 2024 and we have recorded steady activity across all price bands.
“This year we have recorded a surge in interest from overseas buyers. Scotland, in common with the rest of the UK, is seen as a safe place to make an investment, offering stability, both politically and financially, which provides confidence to potential buyers.
“It may be that climate change is also a contributing factor – changing global weather patterns and the increasing incidences of extreme weather events in some parts of Europe, the US and even parts of England have an impact on the property market here. Buyers may be cautious about committing to a long-term investment in those regions, which may lead to greater interest in property in Scotland.”
Galbraith reports that the supply of property in the Highlands is good, and the level of demand indicates a favourable outlook for 2025.
