Galbraith racked up the impressive tally over several fundraisers over the past seven months, with the majority – £11,000 – raised through a firm-wide virtual cycle.

The ‘All Roads Lead to Rome’ charity cycle was dreamt up by Doddie’s former teammate and friend Rob Wainwright and involved people cycling from the UK to Stadio Olympico ahead of Scotland and Italy’s Guinness Six Nation’s clash in March.

Galbraith decided to participate differently, accumulating the needed miles virtually during a working day in any way staff could participate – every walk, run, jump and wheel spin was recorded. The enthusiastic commitment of staff resulted in them smashing past the distance and ending up closer to Sicily.

Alistair Christie, a partner at Galbraith, said: “We knew early on that we wanted to mobilize the full work force and enable as many people as possible to take part. That ruled out everyone hitting the roads with Rob, but what we were able to do created a memorable and special day across all of our 13 offices.

“I’m incredibly proud of the effort put in by everyone and delighted the funds are going towards finding a cure for motor neuron disease , which is a devastating condition”.

Paul Thompson, Director of Fundraising and Communications at My Name’5 Doddie Foundation said:

“What a fantastic effort from Galbraith – it’s brilliant to see the whole organisation getting behind the cause and exemplifies the team effort that’s required to find effective treatments for MND.

“We really appreciate the support, and will invest these funds into the most promising MND research – everyone at Galbraith should be incredibly proud of their involvement for making this happen!”

The remaining £3,000 was raised by staff participating in the annual Doddie Aid fundraiser in January, as well as a raffle at a Galbraith-hosted pre-match hospitality event at an Edinburgh Rugby game.
